Liz Catton

Before following her passion for family law, Liz practised in the areas of commercial and corporate law in Brisbane and Melbourne.

Liz was the Principal Lawyer on a team responsible for significant reforms to natural resources legislation in Qld drafting the Water Act 2000 and has also worked in-house for NAB and the Australian Banking Industry Ombudsman.

While commercial and corporate law was incredibly rewarding Liz was drawn to family law where she felt she could really make a difference. Liz’s broader legal background allows her to draw upon the skills she has developed over many years and makes her a talented lawyer, negotiator, Court litigator and mediator.

Prior to establishing Catton & Tondelstrand Lawyers, Liz was the Co-Practice Group Leader for a large family law division of a national law firm.

Liz is a QLS Accredited Family Law Specialist and has been recognised in Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Family Law and Divorce lawyer on the Sunshine Coast in 2018 and 2019. Liz is a member of the Qld Law Society, Family Law Practitioner’s Association, Sunshine Coast Law Association, Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network and volunteer at the Suncoast Community Legal Centre.

Family law matters can be incredibly difficult for all parties, and Liz understands that many clients are often overwhelmed during the process. She takes the time to really listen to her client’s concerns and provides well-considered practical advice in all aspects of family law.
